Delete your Chatty account

How to request deletion

Send us an email. We handle deletion requests by email so we can verify that the request comes from the account owner.

1. Email [email protected] from the address tied to your Chatty account, and include:
   • Your Shopify store name — the full .myshopify.com domain
   • The email address you use to sign in to Chatty
   • What you want deleted — the whole account, or specific data
2. We verify ownership and reply to confirm we have received the request.
3. We complete deletion within 30 days and confirm in writing when it is done.

We only use the details in your email to verify and confirm deletion.

What happens to your data

Deleted

• Account & sign-in records — your profile and the authentication identifiers issued through Shopify OAuth and Firebase Authentication — we never hold your password
• Conversations, contacts, tags, segments — live chat and AI chatbot history, customer records, notes
• FAQ articles, AI training data, widget & campaign settings — knowledge base entries, custom answers, AI agent and widget configuration, campaigns
• Uploaded files — avatars, logos, icons, image and file attachments in chat
• Connected channels & integrations — all third-party connections (social, helpdesk, email marketing, analytics)

How deletion actually works. This data is removed from production systems immediately. It stays in a recovery store for up to 3 months so it can be restored if something was deleted by mistake, after which it is permanently deleted automatically. Data removed from production is also purged from our backup change history within 30 days.

Retained

A small set of data is kept after deletion — either because the law requires it, or because we still need it to handle follow-up questions and disputes. None of it contains your end-customers’ chat content.

• Billing & invoice records — Tax and accounting compliance. Retention: As required by Vietnamese accounting law.
• Website enquiries & support correspondence — Our legitimate interest in handling follow-up questions and disputes — you can ask us to delete these sooner. Retention: 24 months after our last contact with you.

Other notes

• Shoppers: if you chatted with a Chatty-powered store and want your chat history deleted, contact that store directly. They can submit a GDPR data deletion request through Shopify, which we process within 30 days as required by law.
